Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit American Lung Association Action Network. The short explanation of this alert was: In the next few days the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee is expected vote on the supplemental appropriations bill that will focus exclusively on domestic programs. There is an opportunity to increase research funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The American Lung Association strongly supports including at least $500 million of additional funding for NIH. The National Institutes of Health plays a critical role in fighting against lung disease. Each year more than 400,000 Americans die of lung disease and 35 million Americans live with chronic lung disease. Given the magnitude of lung health issues and the enormity of the death toll, the American Lung Association strongly recommends that the U.S. Senate commit additional funds for lung health programs and research. Please contact your Senator immediately and urge him or her to increase funding for the NIH. If you would like to view details on this alert, please visit here. |
